Michael R. (Mike) Hilliard, BS, MEP, CPM, FPEM is an active member of our local simulation community. Mike serves as the co-chair of the Florida Healthcare Simulation Alliance (FHSA) East Central Region, an Affinity member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). For the last twenty-five years, Mike has been a full-time educator in all aspects of healthcare education both within and outside hospitals. At Valencia College, Mike functions as the Simulation Coordinator for both the Allied Health (Cardiovascular Technology, Dental Hygiene, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Radiography, Respiratory, and Sonography programs) and Nursing Divisions. Valencia College employs over 100-simulation manikins over two campuses. At this time.
Mike Hilliard is also an active conference presenter on issues relating to instructional design and delivery, incident command systems, as well as in emergency management. He has obtained his Florida Professional Emergency Management (FPEM) certification, is an All-Hazards Incident Management Team, type 3, train-the-trainer, he has his Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) certification, as well as numerous activations as a Planning Section Chief during large-scale activations. Activations have included hurricanes, support for strike teams, and numerous multiple day, large scale, events and incidents. Mike Hilliard is also a certified public manager (CPM) and loves working here at Valencia College.
